Leeds Building Society donates nearly £30,00 to Leeds Rugby
Leeds Building Society presented Leeds Rhinos with a cheque for £29,300 at the Leeds Rhinos home match against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Friday 4th June at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
The £29,300 cheque relates to 1 per cent of the total balances in the Blue and Amber account for 2009. This donation is made annually and since 2000 over £200,000 has been donated, from Leeds Building Society to Leeds Rugby, due to the Blue and Amber account.
Leeds Building Society has been the main club sponsor of Leeds Rhinos since 2007 and, in that time, the team has made history by winning the Super League grand final at Old Trafford three years in a row. The two organisations are now in the first year of a new three year sponsorship deal.
Leeds Building Society Chief Executive Ian Ward (pictured left) said, "I was delighted to present the annual Blue and Amber affinity payment cheque to Leeds Rugby Chief Executive Gary Hetherington. This presentation took place at half time during a fiercely contested local derby between Leeds and Wakefield. I am very keen on supporting grassroots sports in the areas within which we operate and this £29,300 donation will go towards helping youth development at Leeds Rugby.
"All customers who open a Blue and Amber account receive 2 match tickets to a Leeds Rhinos home match. In addition, all Blue and Amber account holders are entered into a bi-monthly prize draw to win great ‘money can't buy' prizes from Leeds Rugby. These prizes include a day with the head coach of the Rhinos team, match day hospitality for four people and a day with the players.
Leeds Rugby Chief Executive Gary Hetherington (pictured right) said, "The Blue and Amber is a great account and I would encourage any fans who have not already opened one to do so as soon as possible."
